PEACE, a river of western Canada. It rises in the Rocky Mountains near 55º N., and breaking through the mountains, flows N.E. into Slave River, near lake Athabasca. The district between 56º 40' and 60º N., and between 112º W. and the Rocky Mountains is usually known as the Peace River district.
