​SEAWARD. (Lieutenant, 1830.)

William Seaward entered the Navy 4 April, 1811; passed his examination in 1819; and was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant 22 July, 1830. He was afterwards employed – from 22 April, 1830, until 1833, from 28 April, 1834, until the spring of 1838, and from 27 Sept. 1838 until May, 1839, in the Coast Guard – from 16 May, 1839, until the following Dec. in command of the Sprightly Revenue-cruizer – from 4 May, 1840, until March, 1843, again in the Coast Guard – and, for a short time in the latter year, as Admiralty Agent in a contract mail steam-vessel.
