ADAMS, CHARLES KENDALL, an
American historian and educator; born
at Derby, Vt., Jan. 24, 1835. He became
President of Cornell University (1885),
of the American Historical Association
(1890), of the University of Wisconsisn
(1892), and editor-in-chief of “Johnson's
Universal Cyclopaedia” (1892). He died
July 26, 1902.
