THE HISTORIAN OF MAIDSTONE,

Was born there. In 1719 he was presented to the Vicarage of West Hythe, whence he was transferred to the Rectory of Gillingham in Dorset, in 1732. He died in 1744. His history of Maidstone was published in 1741. He was, besides, the author of several religious tracts.
