" The foliage of Decorated capitals may generally be distinguished from those of Early English by its not rising from the neck-moulding with stiff stems, but being carried round the bell in something of a wreath-like form. The foliage itself, whether of capitals, finials, crockets, bosses, or other ornamental accessories, exhibits mucli of natural freedom, and we frequently find the oak, the ivy, the hazel, the vine, the fern, kc. very beautifully and VOL.
