to criticise Prof. Cornelius in an adverse sense, I ought to say that, even where I differ from him most, I find him highly stimu- lating and suggestive ; and that there is much in his book with which I thoroughly concur, and which I find most helpful. The author's style, both of thinking and writing, is distinguished for clearness, simplicity, and elegance.
