Signor Denza was born in Castellamare di Stabia, near Naples, on Icebruary 24, 1540, ITis talent for music was discovered at the age of seven. Ile commenced his studices at the Conservatoire of Naples, where 1in a vear he gamed a free scholarship. His first ponulm work was a Neapolitan song named 1 Allicuorde,” after which follow cd several Frcnch and Ttalian songs, notably “ (riulia,” St ta m'aimais,” but the best adapted to the public taste proved to be “5e” These productions were very suc- cossful early efforts.
