GEORGE HEWSON, Esq.
[Post-Captain of 1817.]
Received his first commission in 1795; obtained the rank of commander, Oct. 13, 1807; and lost la Flêche sloop, off the mouth of the river Elbe, May 24, 1810. He subsequently commanded the Coquette, and was removed from her to the Griffon brig, in June, 1814. His promotion to post rank took place Jan. 1, 1817. Captain Hewson married, in 1808, Miss Marshall, of Great Grimsby.
