[Captain of 1830.]

Was made a lieutenant in Sept. 1805; advanced to the rank of commander, for his gallant conduct as first of the Phoebe frigate, in action with an enemy’s squadron, off Madagascar, by commission dated Mar. 24th, 1812[1]; and advanced to his present rank, Feb. 12th, 1830,
