ROBERT TAIT, Esq.
[Post-Captain of 1827.]

Was made a lieutenant into the Astraea 36, Captain John Eveleigh, Dec. 13th, 1813; appointed to the Amphion 32, Captain William Bowles, Oct. 4th, 1815; to the Euphrates 36, Captain Robert Foulis Preston, April 9th, 1816; to the Tagus 36, Captain J. W. Deans Dundas, March 31st, 1817; to the Albion 74, bearing the flag of Sir Charles V. Penrose, on the Mediterranean station, Nov. 27th, 1817; to the Glasgow 50, Captain the Hon,. Anthony Maitland, Dec. 8th, 1818.; and to command the Larne sloop, Dec. 7th, 1819. He returned home, Sept. 25th, 1822; and his next appointment was, March 30th, 1826, to the Heron 18, fitting out for the South American station; where he was removed, pro tempore, to the Volage 28, in March 1827. He obtained the rank of captain on the 17th of the following month; and returned to England, passenger on board the Blossom 24, Captain F. W. Beechey, in Sept. 1828.
