This officer’s good conduct when coxswain to the late Lord Bridport, raised him to favor and promotion. He was a Lieutenant in that nobleman’s flag-ship on the glorious 1st June, 1794, and in the action off l’Orient^[1]; after which he was entrusted with the charge of the Alexander 74, recaptured from the enemy on that occasion. His post commission is dated September 2, 1795. He subsequently commanded the Flora frigate, and Trusty, a 50 gun ship, armed en flute; served in the expedition against the French in Egypt; and is one of those gentlemen who were presented with the Turkish gold medal. He was superannuated July 18, 1814.
