TWICHELL, Joseph Hopkins, American Congregational clergyman and author: b. Southington, Conn., 1838. He was graduated at Yale in 1859, and served as chaplain during most of the Civil War. In 1865 he accepted a call to the Asylum Hill Congregational Church, Hartford, Conn. His writings include ‘John Winthrop’ (1891) and ‘Some Old Puritan Love Letters’ (1893).
