< Translation:French Nursery Rhymes

SLEEP, BABY, SLEEP.

Sleep, baby, sleep,
For I hear outside
A white sheep, a black sheep,
Who say, "Child, child, good night."
And if the child will not sleep,
Soon we will see running up
A black or white little sheep,
To peck[1] at the cute foot
Of my pretty little baby.

  1. Picoter (v.a.), from piquer, to prick, to peck (of birds).
