Cartaxo is a city and municipality in Ribatejo, Portugal. The municipality calls itself Capital do Vinho, "Capital of Wine".

Cartaxo (kuhr-TAH-shoo, /kɐɾ.ˈta.ʃu/) municipality has 23,211 residents (2021 preliminary), with just over 10,000 living in the city. The municipality contains two towns: Pontével and Vila Chã de Ourique.
