Initially Linden started as the site for commercial bauxite mining. Bauxite is the world's main source of aluminium.

- Watooka House, 139 Riverside Drive, ☏ +592 444-2162, [email protected]. The Watooka House is a colonial style, wooden building set in nature overlooking the Demerara River. Its has eleven rooms with a restaurant, bar and conference room on site, including games room, swimming pool, basketball court and spacious ground.
