What would be the best way in which to genetically modify (or create through some other method) an animal which breeds normally for a certain number (50?) of generations before becoming sterile? Generations 1-49 would be normal, but generation 50 should be unable to breed.

Can individuals of one generation interbreed with individuals of the previous generation(s)? What generation would the offspring of such a breeding be counted as? How long even is a generation, since they're presumably not all breeding at the same time? – Darrel Hoffman Apr 22 '19 at 16:38
  • Yes 2. Higher of 2 generations + 1 3. Generation 1 = first cohort. Generation 2 = children of first cohort. Etc.
